To reduce the carbon footprint linked to the operation of its infrastructures, the Liège airport authorities are financing a program to protect and restore the Analamerana reserve (north-eastern Madagascar) with the creation of nurseries in the villages surrounding the reserve and the planting of 120,000 trees each year. Two new nurseries were created this week.
Our philosophy is to do reforestation directly with the populations of the villages that draw resources from the forest. After Madagascar and Togo, we are planting our first trees in Benin where we plan to create 5 nurseries this year.
We have decided to be actors in the fight against global warming by creating nurseries in African communities that want to protect and restore their forests.
The rainy season has just started in Togo and the population is mobilizing to plant the 340,000 tree seedlings produced in our 30 nurseries.
We have a nursery and an awareness and reforestation project in more than one out of every four communes in Togo. Help us to create an identical project in all the communes of the country and thereby demonstrate that it is possible for humanity to reverse the trend of the systematic destruction of our environment.
For a better, fairer and more beautiful world.
TIME TO PLANT
Our team left this week to open nurseries in the region of Betsiboka between Tana and Majunga. We have a lot of requests for help and partnership in the fokontany. Some pictures of the new nurseries
As we feared, COVID-19 arrived in Madagascar where the government imposed containment.
This is a tragedy for the poorest families who find themselves without resources and therefore without food.
We, therefore, decided to intervene and to use our contacts and our teams to distribute 5,000 packets to 5,000 selected families in the most precarious neighbourhoods.
Each packet contains 5 kilos of rice, fruit and vegetables, oil and soap and will enable a family to eat for 3 to 4 days.
At the end of this programme more than 100,000 people will be able to eat decently for several days.
Help us to do more by donating your help to account BE60 0017 4158 3870 in the name of Graine de Vie.
Of course, each payment of at least 40 euros will give rise to a tax reduction of 45% of the amount.
Thank you for spreading this message around you.

For this first year, we are going to set up nurseries of 500 trees for schoolchildren in about thirty schools and supply 2,000,000 seeds thanks to the bags of 5,000 seeds that we have developed for the direct sowing technique. 🌱.
Thousands of children will benefit from this program.

The restoration of trees remains among the most effective strategies for climate change mitigation. We mapped the global potential tree coverage to show that 4.4 billion hectares of canopy cover could exist under the current climate. Excluding existing trees and agricultural and urban areas, we found that there is room for an extra 0.9 billion hectares of canopy cover, which could store 205 gigatonnes of carbon in areas that would naturally support woodlands and forests. This highlights global tree restoration as our most effective climate change solution to date. However, climate change will alter this potential tree coverage. We estimate that if we cannot deviate from the current trajectory, the global potential canopy cover may shrink by ~223 million hectares by 2050, with the vast majority of losses occurring in the tropics. Our results highlight the opportunity of climate change mitigation through global tree restoration but also the urgent need for action.

“Reforestation is our future”.A reforestation awareness film that denounces abusive deforestation.
This is an 8-minute short film, intended for schoolchildren, but suitable for all audiences.
Planting is a simple gesture but a noble gesture, that is the main message that GRAINE DE VIE wants to convey to the youngest because they represent the future and hope.
This story is about offering a solution called reforestation in order to preserve the environment, to make every child aware of the need to plant trees in a world ravaged by the alarming disappearance of forests, a world that has become careless about the future for future generations.
We made this film in Madagascar with the help of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Please spread it around you so that it can be seen by as many people as possible.
This film is intended to be shown in all primary schools based in Madagascar. To do this, we ask for any form of help that could make it possible!

This is the short story of the movie soon to be released.
From our correspondent, Onjatiana Ravoninjatovo.
Iary plays with his kite and ties it to a tree for an outdoor lunch with his grandmother and grandfather, in a contrasting landscape of green surrounded by burnt land.
The grandparents tell him how everything had changed and how they spent a peaceful childhood in the middle of the forests that provided them with everything they needed to survive. Iary suddenly runs to catch his loose kite.
On the way, he crosses landscapes ravaged by flames and ends up meeting Dera, the tree nurseryman and a group of children planting young trees. He then follows them to learn everything about their activity. The nurseryman teaches him everything there is to know about planting trees.
It is getting late and his grandparents, accompanied by several people from their village, are looking for Iary… Who end up crossing him.
Iary is very happy with everything he has just learned about trees, fully aware of what to avoid in the future. He comes to bring the good news back to his grandparents’ village, eager to take them all to plant in turn.
Graine de vie is preparing to plant 12,000,000 trees starting this December 2019 on the basis of the direct seeding technique. This technique is based on the direct introduction of the seed into the soil, without tillage. We distribute bags to the people who help us harvest 12 million seeds. These seeds will then be sent to all reforestation sites.
