Reforestation activities in Cameroon

Graine de Vie teams are continuing their reforestation campaign in the commune of Doumé.
More than 2,000 Tali (a highly resistant exotic wood) seedlings, ranging from 1 to over 1.5 metres in height, have been planted.
The plants are already well matured, so success is almost 100% guaranteed.

South Kivu: Idjwi, a future green paradise with LJIDC

An innovative initiative is taking root in the Idjwi region of South Kivu. The Ligue des jeunes d’idjwi pour le travail et le développement (LJIDC) has set itself the task of preserving the environment, combating global warming and promoting permaculture in the region.

In collaboration with the organisations Graine de vie and FANYATU, the association has launched an ambitious reforestation project.

At the instigation of Sendova Simba, Chairman of the LJIDC Board of Directors, the Association has set up a network of nurseries at the Kihumba, Kisheke and Kibanda sites. The aim is clear: to produce more than 50,000 seedlings to replant the Idjwi lands.

These nurseries are more than just places to grow plants: they are home to a diversity of species carefully selected for their benefits. These include fertiliser trees to enrich the soil and promote sustainable agriculture, agroforestry trees to restore degraded forests and create balanced ecosystems, and fruit trees to reduce Idjwi’s dependence on imports and stimulate the local economy.

Benin’s National Tree Day

Graine de Vie celebrated Benin’s National Tree Day in collaboration with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC).

Under the impetus of Rector Avlessi and with the support of the Rectorate’s sanitation department, the administrative staff union and the students and teachers of the Institut du Cadre de Vie (ICAV), more than 400 seedlings were planted on the production and experimentation site of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi, at Sèdjè Dénou in the Commune of Zè.
