Madagascar: a strategic choice
It is in Madagascar that we initiated our projects in 2009.
This is a strategic choice because Madagascar is one of the places in the world where a reforestation action can have a real systemic impact (5th poorest country in the world on the IMF list), but which would suffer more than others if nothing was undertaken (3rd most exposed country to the effects of global warming on the IPCC list).
Madagascar is also one of the most deforested countries in the world (2% of the forest area destroyed each year), one of the countries where the area available for reforestation is the largest and one of the countries on our planet where the rainfall rate still allows for large-scale reforestation. Moreover, the trees planted there have a carbon absorption capacity ten to fifteen times greater than trees planted in our regions, at a much lower cost.
